Reading your first signal

What Buy, Sell, and Between Zones mean, and how to read trend age, the new badge, and chart markers.

Written by TrendTrader Pro Team

Every signal in TrendTrader Pro is designed to be readable at a glance. Here's what each part means.

The signal pill

Each market in your feed carries one pill:

  • Buy (green) — the engine's read is an established uptrend. The number next to it is the trend's age: "Buy 3" on the Daily tab means the buy trend has been in place for 3 days. On the Intraday tab the age is in hours.

  • Sell (red) — an established downtrend, same age convention.

  • Between Zones — the market is sitting between the two sides with no directional edge either way. Treat it as "no trade signal right now."

Every market in your feed always shows its most recent signal, even when the engine hasn't produced a fresh setup today — the fired-at date under the pill tells you how current it is. A brand-new market that has never produced a signal yet reads "Awaiting first signal" until its first scan lands one.

Below the pill, the subline repeats the trend age with the asset class — for example "3d · Forex" or "1h · Crypto."

The "new" badge and fired-at time

When a market flips direction — a Sell becomes a Buy or vice versa — the row gets a new badge and jumps to the top of your feed. Fresh flips are the moments most traders care about, so they're impossible to miss. The badge is blue on the Daily tab and purple on the Intraday tab, matching each tab's accent color.

Under each pill you'll also see when the signal fired: a date like "Jul 2" for daily signals, or a clock time for intraday signals. This is the signal's origin, not its expiry — a Buy that fired five days ago is still the current signal until the trend flips.

Signals on the chart

Select a market and its chart shows the signal in context:

  • Signal markers are pinned to the exact candles where signals fired — the current one bright, earlier ones dimmed — so you can see the recent flip pattern without clutter.

  • The Trend Locked pill in the chart's top-left corner mirrors the live direction: green arrow up for bullish, red arrow down for bearish, or "No Trend" when the market is between zones.

When do signals update?

  • Daily signals refresh once per day after the daily scan completes. A signal you see in the morning is the current end-of-day read and stays valid until the next scan or a flip.

  • Intraday signals (Pro plan) come from a 1-minute engine and refresh every few minutes while markets are open. The feed shows an "as of" time so you always know how fresh the data is.

A note on expectations

A signal is a measured statistical edge, not a certainty. We publish exactly how often each asset class's signals have won historically — over 4,000,000 measured outcomes — in the 2026 Performance Report. Combine signals with sound risk management: position sizing and stop placement matter as much as direction.
